James Monro Forbes, of Mount Carroll, Ill., was private of Company I of the 92nd Illinois Mounted Infantry. The regiment took part in the operations in Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina in 1862-1865. In Spring of 1863, Forbes was with the 9th Battery of Ohio Light Artillery, coming back to his regiment in late July. On Apr. 12, 1865 he was taken prisoner, but managed to escape.
